There is one more story associated with the Cistercian Abbey in Sulejów, which has been arousing considerable excitement among treasure hunters for years.
In 1259, the prudent monks decided to hide all valuables after hearing about the Tatar hordes approaching Sulejów. The underground dungeons of the monastery, originating from the monastery in the direction of Pilica, became the hiding place. Few knew where the treasure was - only a few monks and a cooper strengthening oak barrels with valuables.
The Tatars arriving in Sulejów first burned the abbey buildings, then, in search of treasures, they captured the monks and, torturing them, revealed the place of their hiding place. Those who did not reveal their secrets were murdered. One of them - the one who couldn't stand the pain - pointed to the cooper.
The invaders caught the craftsman and subjected him to cruel torture. Despite the torture, the cooper, faithful to the oath of silence, was walled up alive.
The Tatars did not find the Treasure - this mystery has not been solved to this day
