The reserve is located in the valley of the Pilica River. The area of the reserve is approx. 29 ha. It was created to protect the natural karst springs with a blue color and to preserve the refuge of numerous species of birds. Its symbol is the mallard duck. The Blue Springs are one of the most interesting karst phenomena in Europe. The main aquifer complex consists of cracked Jurassic limestones, from which water gushes out taking on a blue-blue-green color. The color of water in spring pools is the effect of diffused sunlight.
